Christopher M. Young is a native of Greensboro, NC and received his early education through the Guilford County Public School System. After graduating from Walter Hines Page High School in 1995, he began his college career at Shaw University. While pursuing his undergraduate degree in International Relations, Christopher was an active part of student life on campus. He was a member of the university baseball team, served as a resident advisor for housing, and participated and held leadership positions in various student clubs and organizations.

Upon graduating from Shaw University in 1999, Christopher immediately entered into the workforce taking a job selling automobiles in Greensboro, NC. After approximately a year in Greensboro, Christopher enrolled in North Carolina Central University’s Masters of Public Administration program in the fall of 2000. Motivated by the lack of African American attorneys in his hometown, in August of 2004 Christopher decided to enter law school at Appalachian School of Law (ASL) in Grundy, Virginia where he completed the first two years of his law degree. While studying law at ASL Christopher honed his leadership skills by serving as president of the Black Law Students Association, member of the diversity committee, and research assistant for Professor Joseph Grant. For whom he researched the lack of minority presence in the nations top law firms. In the fall of 2006, Christopher returned to North Carolina Central University School of Law where he completed his final year of law school.

While attending law school, Christopher was fortunate to have professional development opportunities through summer internships that helped shape his law career and identify his passion for criminal law. While earning his law degree, Christopher interned with the North Carolina Court of Appeals as a clerk for Judge John M. Tyson, the Wake County District Attorney’s Office under then District Attorney, C. Colon Willoughby, and law clerk for long-time Wake County defense attorney, Geoffrey H. Simmons. After earning his law degree, Christopher continued working with Attorney Simmons as a law clerk and later he worked of counsel attorney with Simmons Law Firm.

In April of 2012, Christopher established his own law firm - The Young Law Firm, PLLC in Washington, DC. The Young Law Firm (YLF) specializes in federal criminal defense and post-conviction relief nationwide. The firm is thriving and Christopher is an emerging leader in the area of federal criminal defense and post-conviction relief. The firm prides itself on providing each of its clients with exceptional service. Accessibility, diligence, and integrity are fundamental principles that guide The Young Law Firm.
